the Academic Well-Check Program has been nominated for the Leading
Light Award, presented annually by the Bloomington Chamber of Commerce.
The award recognizes individuals and organizations that have made
significant achievements in science and education, and have demonstrated
expertise, professionalism, leadership, service, courage and tenacity in
their field. This is an incredible achievement for the IU School
Psychology program, all school psychology students. Congratulations to
everyone! Your
hard work has not gone unnoticed.
An award ceremony dinner will be held on Thursday, November 8th and
students are encouraged to attend. However, there are a limited number
of free seats available, so if you are interested in joining Rebecca and
me in representing the AWCP and the IU School Psychology Program, please
let Misha Graves know as soon as possible. After the AWCP allotment of guest slots
is filled, additional students interested in attending are welcome to
pay the cover charge at $25/per ticket. The event details are as
follows:
Date: 11/8
Time: 5:30-8pm
Place: Bloomington/Monroe County Convention Center
Thanks again, everyone, for helping to make the AWCP a success!!
The Academic Well-Check Program will be holding an open house for parents at Edgewood Intermediate School in Ellettsville. Parents will have the opportunity to get an inside look as they learn more about their child's participation in the AWCP and meet the dedicated graduate students helping their children become better readers. The date and time of the event will be posted shortly, so be sure to check back.
The Student Affiliates of School Psychology (SASP) will be holding a supply drive for the Agua Viva Children's Home in Chimaltenango, Guatemala, the site of the AWCP International Practicum. Last year, SASP was able to send several large crates of generously donated school supplies to Guatemala. Donation bins will be placed throughout the IU Education Building, and a SASP volunteer would be happy to pick them up for you.
